About Katherine Henshell
Katherine I. Henshell is the founding lawyer for Henshell Law Office. In 1999, she graduated from York University with her LL.B. from Osgoode and with her B.A. in Political Science. In 2008, she obtained her LL.M. from Osgoode in the area of Civil Litigation. In 2002, she opened her own practice and exclusively practices in the area of Debtor/Creditor Law and Real Estate Transactions.
Katherine was born and raised on St. Joseph Island located in Northern Ontario and east of Sault Ste. Marie. She attended Algoma University in Sault Ste. Marie for 2 years and then transferred to York University to complete her LL.B. and B.A. Growing up in the small town of Richards Landing with a population of 500 people provided her with a strong sense of community and moral obligation towards helping others. This commitment to community is evident in the regular support that she provides to charities such as Habitat for Humanity, Daily Bread Food Bank, L’Abri Fellowship, and Sew on Fire Ministries.
Katherine is committed to continuing legal education. She has been a guest speaker and lecturer for the Hamilton Law Association and the Paralegal Society of Ontario in the topics of Law Society Regulations and Guidelines and the Ontario Small Claims Court System. Additionally, Katherine has taught Debtor/Creditor Law as a professor at Sheridan College.
Katherine has published articles for the Hamilton Law Journal entitled “The Road to Recovery” and “Bumps in the Road to Recovery, Part II” providing a practical step by step breakdown of the process of issuing, serving and follow up of notices of garnishment and an overview of limitations, delays and temporary setbacks experienced in the process of issuing and follow up of notices of garnishment. Additionally, she authored “Ontario Enforcement of Extra-Provincial and Foreign Orders” providing an introduction to the procedure to enforce Extra-Provincial and Foreign Judgments and Support Orders.
Katherine has appeared as a guest on “The Drew Marshall Show” which is a Greater Toronto Area talkback radio show and responded to the question “Should Christians sue each other?” She also appeared on “Municipal Insider” a Burlington cable program as the Chair of the Burlington Crime Prevention Committee and spoke regarding crime prevention initiatives in the Province of Ontario and the City of Burlington.
